DOLPHINS

These animals can get up to 12 feet long and weigh up to 1,000 pounds! You’ll usually see them swimming in groups, and it’s not uncommon for them to come near the coastline. MANATEES
Consider yourself lucky if you get to see a manatee on your Myrtle Beach vacation. While they’re one of the area’s most beloved marine species, they’re also one of the rarest. Manatees, when they are here, typically come in the warmer months of the year.
SEA TURTLES
If you happen to visit Myrtle Beach from the start of May to the end of October, you can experience the incredible sea turtle nesting season! Every year, dozens of female sea turtles head to the shore to create nests and lay their eggs. By the end of the season, the baby sea turtles will hatch and make their way to the water! It’s an amazing sight if you get the chance to witness it, but please don’t bother any turtles or any nests you might come across.
CRABS
No, we’re not just talking about the crabs that might show up on your plate! Myrtle Beach is also known for its abundance of crabs in the wild (blue crabs in particular). In fact, there are a few popular crabbing spots throughout the city, including the Apache Campground Pier, Second Avenue Pier, Cherry Grove Beach Pier, and Myrtle Beach State Park. Whether you want to try to catch them or simply observe them near the shore, you’ll be in for a treat watching them navigate the area.
