Eco-Tour Do’s and Don’ts

Of all the things to do in Myrtle Beach, heading out on an eco-tour may be one of the most fun. The entire family can enjoy seeing the sights, keeping an eye out for wildlife, and learning about the history and nature of the area from your captain. But when you embark on your Myrtle Beach eco-tour, there are a few tips to keep in mind for the best experience.

DO: ADMIRE FROM A DISTANCE

The exact path of your eco-tour will be determined by your captain. They’ll know all the best viewpoints to spot marine life and get great views of the land. So, when your boat approaches an animal, you’ll be steered away in order to leave it and its habitat undisturbed. It’s vital that you check out the wildlife from a safe distance, so be sure to bring a pair of binoculars or a camera with a good zoom!

DO: ASK QUESTIONS ON YOUR ECO-TOUR

All of our Myrtle Beach eco-tours are led by experienced captains who have been in the area for years. They’ll be giving you commentary throughout your tour and explaining everything you see along the way. However, you might come up with a question on your own. Don’t be afraid to ask! Others on the tour might have the same question, and you’ll get an extra piece of information that other tour groups may not know. Asking questions is an excellent way to get a personalized experience and make the most of your tour.

DON’T: DISTURB THE WILDLIFE

On that same note, you should make every effort not to disturb the local wildlife while you’re on your eco-tour. Don’t try to reach your hand down in the water to touch a fish or extend a piece of food to a bird flying overhead. Interfering with these animals interrupts their natural instincts and routines, which could be detrimental to their overall health.

DON’T: FORGET THESE ECO-TOUR ESSENTIALS

Finally, there are a few key items you’ll want to throw in your bag before embarking on your eco-tour. Our tours are offered in the mornings and the afternoons, but regardless of when you choose to take your trip, it’s likely to be sunny. Most passengers prefer to bring sun protection like sunglasses, sunscreen, or a hat (or all three!). You’ll also want to bring your binoculars or camera to get the best view and grab some amazing images along the way! Last but not least, bring a sense of adventure with you. After all, the sights you’ll see are truly one-of-a-kind.
